From a Friend Who Cares

Don't do this to yourself. Clean up your act before you ruin your life.

A Dingo Reincarnation?

Hypothetically speaking: what do you do when you can't get enough of someone even though they treat you like trash? Logic would tell you to get rid of them and move on. This is the right course of action. But, addiction to a person is like an addiction to drugs: much easier said than done.

I am a sucker for bad boys, ever since I fell for a guy named Dingo in college who dressed (and looked) like James Dean, had almost every protrusion on his body pierced, wore leather, metal studded wrist bands and rode a munchkin dirt bike with the letters 666 on the handle bars. No joke! Truth be told, I STILL have a crush on him and it's been 8 years! Now a new bad boy has come along. No, he's nowhere near Dingo's caliber. Let's call this new guy a half-tame wolf in sheep's clothing. And, still, I find myself day-dreaming!

This cliche's true: good girls love bad boys. But, come to think of it, maybe I was never a good girl.

Back to Life

Being at home these last few days has been great therapy. I am happy to be doing well and recovering from a malaise that blankets me like the clouds that make New Jersey perpetually grey. I'll be bringing sunshine with me tomorrow as I head back for work. This nomadic lifestyle will be my reality until the end of the summer.

I've been a movie freak in the past weeks. So far: The Devil Wears Prada, Pirates 2, Rent, Syriana, The Door in the Floor, The Man with One Red Shoe, Derailed, Rumor Has It, Tears of the Sun, 16 Blocks, Beyond Borders, Queer as Folk (Season 5), and probably more I cannot remember. The Devil Wears Prada was excellent but a little too autobiographical for me. My Hollywood days revisited me like a terrible day-mare. Next on the list: Donnie Darko.

My question is: how are you all doing and what have you been up to?

Stuck in a Moment

Wow, the last week has made me realize how lonely I am living in New Jersey. Yes, I work 5 days a week and, yes, I do live with grandma. However, with my best friends living in other countries, my family still in Virginia and since my return to single status, life has been difficult. I'm craving companionship and the right to live life as an adult woman, not shackled to the monolith of Catholic dogma. So I think I've decided to move back to the DC area. Both my social and professional lives have more potential there.

I know that things have just got to change for me. They have to.

Balenciaga

This is the Balenciaga dress by designer Nicholas Ghesquiere that inspired Nicole Kidman's wedding gown. Her dress was exactly the same except white. It's a simply stunning design and something I would have chosen if I were a multi-millionaire movie star.
