The Wonders of Gaudi

Casa Batllo

La Sagrada Familia
Barcelona is a showcase for art nouveau, especially with regard to architecture. Antoni Gaudi is perhaps the most famous of the modernists and his organic, non-linear style is just beautiful. I am a creature of excess and, therefore, Gaudi´s buildings speak to my aesthetic tastes.
Casa Batllo is around the corner from our hostel and Julie and I just spent the day climbing La Sagrada Familia, a structure that has been under construction since the 19th century and has yet to be finished. I love that it is both modern and yet gothic in design. A quite fascinating building.

Ah hello there Ben! and Roxie and Julie- I am sure you are loving your Spanish experience- I was just telling Arlette last night that I have to go back- stating the bleeding obvious- anyway keep blogging your adventures-we are muddling our way into the exam period back here in Australia- but enjoy the European summer- I'll be enjoying the Aussie winter
Ben, I will get you a matador´s cape if you answer your f'ing phone once in a while! "Jesus Christ, Ben, why did you show up to work wearing a cape? You think you´re f´ing Don Quixote???" - Jim
